My mother’s father was George Neale, born 1872. George had a sister, Margaret Ann, born 1874 and Pat Campbell was descended from Margaret Ann – so, I have a fairly close relationship to Pat. In 1999, I began to research my ancestors; specifically I aimed to write about each of my four grandparents. Of the four, I had only ever met George Neale and his wife, Mary McLean, who lived at Lake Boga in the 1950s. In the end, I wrote a 320-page family history; Emerging from the Past. Along the way, I learned of many names on my Neale side, including that of Pat Campbell and of Pam Taylor who also lives in Geelong and who is descended from another one of George’s sisters, Rachel, born 1862. My wife and I live in Tasmania. In 2004, we were able to visit Geelong and we met Pat and Ken Campbell and also visited Pam Taylor. We were made very welcome and from then on, we corresponded and exchanged information on our Neale ‘rellies’. Sometime after 2004, my wife and I managed to attend a Neale reunion at Framlingham Recreation Reserve; we were able to meet Pat again. There has been an annual sending of Christmas letters between us and I always looked forward to Pat’s newsy letters. I feel I have lost a dear friend. Allan Jamieson

Pat and I met when we attended Warrnambool Tech many years ago. I lost touch with her after we left school and only reconnected by mail and Facebook recently after I saw her on TV. It was good to catch up after so many years, but I was sad to learn of Pat's ill health. She deserved so much better. My abiding memory of her is that she loved dancing, and I recall a lovely purple velvet dress she wore to one of our school socials. Sincere condolences to all her family

Pat and I first connected through invitations to family reunions, none of which I could attend due to ill health. Pat would send me photos of the reunions as we were related through the Neales. She would send me handwritten notes about relatives to add to our family tree which I greatly appreciated and now will treasure. Pat , like me, was a stickler for the correct research to be recorded accurately on Ancestry. When I first chatted to her on the phone, we found that we were kindred spirits and I loved that she was so generous in sharing her knowledge. I will miss her greatly. Sincere condolences to all her family.

I am sorry to hear of Pat's death. My condolences to her family. We phoned occasionally and were related on the Neale side by my grandfather George and Pat's grandmother Margaret. We first met at the Neale reunion at Framlingham Recreation Reserve many years ago. So sorry Pat Jones

I am saddened to hear of Patty's passing, yet the Patty l knew and loved, strong minded and courageous, is no longer suffering. She was the cousin of my late mother Margaret Evans nee Holt. Patty and l connected a few years back when l saw her on tv-Find my Family. What a brave decison. She found her daughter. A life lost was returned to Patty. Patty was the most honest, open and humble woman. No need for airs and graces, just the truth. Patty shared family history that no one was willing to, and l am eternally grateful for that. Condolences to Ken, Andrew, Glenn, Ian, Gayle and families. Love is eternal. Rest in peace Patty.

My sincere condolences to all of her family members. Life is gifted to man and it passes by. But the memory of it will live on forever. I was correspondening via common mail together with Pat for about six years. The most happiest moment in her life as I have learned has been the reunion with her daughter Gayle. We have had less but nice times of corresponding. Rest in peace, Pat, from your friend Claudia
In Loving Memory
