Phyllis and my father Gillam (Pat) Wood were first cousins. Our families knew each other at St Andrew's, East Geelong, where Pat was minister. Russell and my eldest brother Graeme were good friends, and Ray and my next brother Douglas (both dec.) were also. My next brother Vernon knew them all and also Lois. All were active in the PFA. Russell and Marion were very kind to Pat as a widower in Geelong 1982-1993. Russ took me to Kardinia Park once and hosted me and my wife when we visited Geelong in the early 90s to visit Pat in hospital. I remember him fondly. I also worked in the same department as Don in Canberra for a few years (the 80s, I think) and attended Jim's funeral in Canberra, representing Pat. I extend my condolences to the family. I have notified Graeme (who lives in Surrey, UK) and Vernon.

Fond memories of Russell's smiling face at family gatherings of the Wood and Purdey families in Geelong, Shepparton and Kyabram many years ago. He was such a happy man. Sincere sympathy to all the Purdey family with love from Glenda, Marie and Colin (children of the late Ken and Mary Wood)

I keep many happy memories of shared family activities and events. Church choir together, Performing Swan Lake at the Gordon Tech Variety show, hearing stories about unusual customers for his engineering consultancy. Requiescat in pace.

I join with my Brothers in sending my Condolence to the surviving relatives and Friends of our departed friend Russell. Our Families were in many activities together whilst we all lived in Geelong, and I have many very happy memories. The Sunday evening meals at the Purdey home. The cold roast lamb on bread was a treat for me. The singing of hymns around the piano on Sunday nights. The PFA camps and the joys of growing up together through our teen years. Rest In Peace.

Dear Robin and all the family. We have literally only just learned of Russell's passing via a notice in the Geelong HS Flotsam mag. What a loss for you all. We are sorry not to have been able to uplift you at the time. We trust that knowing dear Russell is now fully healed and enjoying eternal life, no doubt singing heartily with the angels, will be a comfort to each of you. And I like to imagine our Valerie being there to greet him. Please accept our deepest condolences. On behalf of Murray, and we 3 girls, Robyn, Jennifer, and Susan (Anderson)
In Loving Memory
