Syd Strauch

15/12/1953 - 05/03/2022

STRAUCH, Syd
15/12/1953 – 5/3/2022
Died peacefully surrounded by family.
The essence of Syd was one of service, humility and humour.
Syd will be remembered as an inspiring and passionate teacher, always ready with a witty one liner.
We are forever grateful that he met and held his grandchildren; Jack Sydney and Lucy Grace.
Will be missed by his wife Jan; Children Jenni, Zoe and Josh, Lachie and Emily.

Apart from friends, many people and organisations were a part of Team Syd. They were instrumental in enabling Syd to remain at home as safely and comfortably, for a long as possible, living a connected, active life.
In particular, I would like to thank Emily VK, James, Evelyn, Nikki, Claire, Steve, Donna, Michele, Joseph, Rob and Nithi.
Thank you also to Dr Alastair Mander and the rehab team at Epworth, Dr Peter Batchelor and our GP, Robert Ward who oversaw Syd’s medical care. The staff at Eastbrooke Clinic and Pardey’s Pharmacy Eastbrooke were always very kind and helpful.
The last week of Syd’s life was spent in the care of the staff at Luson The Vue. The staff were unfailingly thoughtful and kind to us all, but especially, towards Syd.
Lastly, I sincerely thank Dr Ong for the gentle, clear and compassionate way she guided us through the last stages of Syd’s palliative care.

Sending all my love to Jan, Jenni, Zoe & Lochie. Syd was a huge part of my life and he always was a positive experience. His humor, generosity and knowledge was boundless. Thanks for being a fellow Pies supporter in Cats territory and an all round good bloke. Vale Syd Strauch.

To Jan, Jenni, Zoe, Lachy and families - deepest sympathy on the too-soon passing of Syd. He was a true gentleman - gone too soon.

Such a loving farewell for a beautiful soul. Zoe and family I didn't have the honour to meet your dad. Today's eulogy demonstrated admirable qualities which will stay with so many people. I felt that I got to know this wonderful man. He was truly remarkable in his own right and lived his life with great strength and dignity. Loved husband adored father a besotted grandfather and a true friend
