Mary heard of Tonja's passing while in Paris. She has tried to contact Andre but has limited means to do so while in Paris. We'll try again when she returns to Oxford on Thursday. We were saddened and shocked to hear the news and send all our love to Andre, Lynda, Richard and Simon.

Andre, Lynda, Richard and Simon, I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember so much of Tonja. Her elegance, her style. Her impeccable taste and vision. Her never-ending patience with me, a painfully shy young adult who turned up most nights for dinner. The garlic cloves in her lamb roast. Her insistence that I not start the day without breakfast - "I mean, at least have a cup of coffee!". The time she rearranged my loungeroom furniture, and I wasn't sure whether to be ecstatic or offended. (On reflection, a no-brainer - ecstatic). We're all lucky to have known her, whether for a season or a lifetime. My thoughts are with all of you. Kate.

I met Tonja at at School - form 1A etc Batts and Budge. As I went off to Teacher's College, I lost contact with my exotic friend and I was delighted when we renewed contact some 20 years ago. Since then she has been a wonderful friend, the linchpin for contact with others, always up for a chat, arranging or hosting a catch up lunch or dinner. Tonja will always be missed but I feel comforted to know that she never wished to grow old or infirm - Tonja forever 75 years young. To Andre I know you will be heartbroken to lose your "Tart." Surrounding you with love and care always . Lyn

Andre, Lynda, Richard & Simon, Words cannot express how shocked I was to get this news. So many memories....from the time we met in 1978 - Simon, you were a bump, and Mum (newly arrived in Kenya) was looking for a gynae - to my visit to Geelong three years ago. Our connection over the years was sporadic, but enduring, and it will be hard knowing she is no longer there. Sending you love and prayers. Stay strong. She is up there somewhere with Batuk, having a laugh and maybe eating a beef fillet!!! My love to you all. Clare
