Frederick Arthur Middleton
In loving memory of Frederick Arthur Middleton who sadly passed away on 16th August 2019. Fred was a hard working and proud Yorkshireman who brought his young family consisting of wife Sheila, son Christopher and daughter Lesley to Australia in 1963 for a better life.A few years after arriving in Australia the family grew even bigger with the arrival of Natalie and Kim. Over the next 30 plus years Fred and Sheila worked hard running various milk bars around the Geelong area while at the same time Fred working at Ford, Alcoa and Kempe. Fred loved his Geelong Cats football club and was lucky to be living just over the road from the Cats home ground so would happily walk over to the ground for their home games on a Saturday afternoon. He loved all things science fiction, especially Star Wars and bought just about every sci-fi DVD ever made. A big believer in ufo’s and conspiracy theories he drove his family mad with his thoughts on those two subjects. A keen gold prospector from his very early days here he’d have the whole family panning for gold every weekend come rain hail or shine down in the creek at Stieglitz. With the advent of metal detectors gold panning the old fashioned way gave way to the electronic era. For a few years Fred had the whole family hooked on archery even to go as far as competing in tournaments all around Victoria. On retirement Fred enjoyed a happy and reasonably healthy 20 years with Sheila by his side and enjoying the company of the ever growing number of grand kids and great grand kids. His last 18 months saw him placed into an aged care home where his dementia could be better managed. Fred passed away peacefully in his sleep on the evening of Friday 16th August 2019.
